Our newest project

So Nick and I have started a new project. We have decided to renovate the house, which was built in 1984, and of course we started in the kitchen area. The plans are to tear down a 10 or so inch soffit, scrape the popcorn off the ceiling, remove wall paper, re-texture the walls and ceiling with knock-down, replace the cabinets with new ones, remove the flooring and put down 18 x 18 porcelain tile, and install granite counter tops. This past Thursday and Friday while I was saving the world one crack addict at a time, Nick and our hired 2 man crew started the renovations at a little after 8 am. I have attached a few pictures of the progress but realized after the fact that I don't have a picture of the kitchen before all of this started. I can't believe how much a difference these changes make in the area. It looks and feels so much bigger and we haven't even started on the floors. They removed the soffit, all the popcorn in that area, we had removed most of the wall paper, pulled out the top cabinets, re-dry walled the area, installed the new lights, and ran wiring for the under cabinet lighting we are installing. The change is going to take approximately 3 months but it will be well worth it. The living room will be next and will probably get finished once the kitchen is done since there is some furniture shifting going on between the rooms. So here are the few pictures we have so far of the progress...enjoy =)

Our kitchen only 1 hour and 50 minutes after the boys started tearing it out.
